Pepperstone, an award-winning, global broker sought to innovate the way they engaged traders by producing the first live ‘trading trends’ talk show using Singular graphic overlays. Tony Gruebner, Pepperstone’s CMO, was inspired by American sports shows - where the hottest topics, issues and events in the sports industry are discussed and debated in a live show. He envisioned a similar approach to transform the landscape of online trading.
By adopting a talk-show format to keep things light hearted and engaging, featuring lively discussions, timers and stock tickers, the goal was to reshape the perception of online trading, fostering a deeper connection with the target market.
To bring Tony's vision to life, Joel, the Lead Designer, put together a show layout and Guido, the Creative Video Editor, collaborated with the team at Singular to implement the design. All overlays for “The Trade Off” were created using Singular's Composer with a streamlined Google Sheet controlling show topics and funneling live Google Finance data. Google Finance data was utilized for the first time in collaboration with Singular for stock tickers, ensuring up-to-date and seamless finance data display.
The result was the launch of 'The Trade Off' show on November 25, 2021, dedicated to the art and science of trading. Pepperstone’s Head of Research, Chris Weston, is filmed in-house in Melbourne, whilst US trader Blake Morrow calls in via Zoom. The pair discuss both fundamental and technical analysis, incorporating graphics that demonstrate where the price of an asset might go in the near future.
’'The Trade Off' has become a resounding success for Pepperstone, evolving into an ongoing weekly event, available live, on-demand, and as a podcast.
